Shahid Surani is a versatile film and television professional with over a decade of experience working across broadcast productions, digital media, and creative visual projects within Singapore’s media industry.
Originally trained as a fine artist at LASALLE College of the Arts, Shahid’s journey into filmmaking began when his Video Art series was selected and showcased at Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay from September to November 2011. This milestone marked the transition from visual arts into moving image storytelling, where he has since developed a strong reputation as a dependable and multi-skilled production professional.
Over the years, Shahid has contributed to numerous television and digital productions including Satu Famili, Juara Memasak, REKA, Janji Sedap, Zaman Sekolah and Taman Mini. His experience spans multicamera studio environments, field shoots, variety programmes, digital segments and commissioned creative work. He has also directed and produced a number of independent and commercial projects, including music videos, theatre visuals, projection mapping projects and corporate productions.
At White Space Pictures, Shahid plays an important role as both Camera Operator and Producer, supporting productions with his adaptability, technical capability and calm approach on set. His ability to move between creative development, camera execution and production coordination makes him a valuable all-rounder within the team.
Beyond broadcast, Shahid has also been deeply involved in education and creative development, having previously trained students across more than 60 MOE schools in Singapore under Vivarge / Epitomedia, where he was also recognised with a Best Trainer Award. This reflects not only his technical knowledge, but also his ability to guide and communicate effectively with others.
With a career shaped by both artistic roots and practical production experience, Shahid continues to bring a thoughtful, flexible and visually driven approach to every project he takes on.
